Introduction to Channahon Chinooks
We are a small hobby breeder of Chinook dogs. We have an average of one litter per year and have puppies available occasionally. We have been involved in the breed since 1997 and have been breeding Chinooks since 2001. We have produced a total of six healthy litters here and have bred or assisted in several other Chinook litters around the country.
We screen our homes using an application process. We also ask prospective families to meet with us or other Chinook owners or breeders prior to being offered a puppy from one of our litters. We do puppy-owner matching and are proud to say that we've never had to rehome one of the pups we've placed. We socialize our puppies well and give them the best start that we possibly can. Our puppies and dogs live indoors as part of the family.
Our puppies are usually dual registered with AKC FSS and UKC, giving our owners as many opportunities as possible with their puppy. If one or the other registration is not available for a certain litter, owners will be notified of their registration options prior to making a financial committment to a particular puppy or litter. Some breeders prefer to only register their puppies with one registry or the other and some studs may or may not be eligible or agreeable for dual UKC and AKC FSS registration.
Our puppies are placed on very detailed contracts that are geared towards protecting their well-being for their lifetime. Our owners are hand-picked, as we only want the best families for our puppies. If you are seeking a loving, gentle canine companion, please contact us for more information about our upcoming litters and associated litters.
Available Puppies
We often have "breed potential" puppies to place from other litters, even when we don't have a litter of our own on the ground. A breed potential puppy is a puppy that will be placed into a home that will keep it open for breeding. It will usually be a 1st -3rd pick of the litter puppy, a puppy of such quality that we would like to see it held open until adulthood at minimum, to determine if the dog is of quality for breeding. Chinooks are a very rare breed and the few breeders there are are not able to keep enough dogs open themselves to sustain this rare breed's diversity as needed. We are always seeking families who are willing to help our breed grow. You are not expected to do this on your own and as your breeder, I will make the committment to assist you in every way possible in making solid breeding choices, planning, raising and placing litters, breeding and offering your dog at stud.
When we have one or more puppies available, we will contact applicants directly or will advertise the available puppy here on our website.
Please contact me at Abays11@aol.com to request an application. I will keep applications on file and will share them with other repuatble, associated breeders.
